Vauxhall's factory at Ellesmere Port is to be one of four plants in Europe that will build the new Astra.
Ellesmere Port is the borough's biggest town, just off the M53, where the Manchester Ship Canal and the Mersey are joined by the Shropshire Union Canal.
It has a thriving town centre and popular indoor market, one of the largest in the area. Two thousand parking spaces serve the 200 shops and cafes where shoppers can enjoy shopping in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The town centre has been developed with the modern shopper in mind, with the enclosed pedestrianised malls of the Port Arcades offering a selection of high street names plus exclusive local ones.
Development in recent years has seen hundreds of jobs created in and around the town and millions of visitors flock to attractions like Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village, the Coliseum Retail Park, and the Blue Planet.
