Property values normally change a good deal between each revaluation. Transitional arrangements soften the impact of revaluation by phasing in the changes to the rates bill over a period of time.
In 2007 your bill cannot be increased by more than 20% for large businesses and 10% for small businesses (after inflation and an extra 0.3% of your new rateable value to pay for small business rate relief)
Small businesses are defined as those with a rateable value of less than £15,000. We will automatically give you the transitional adjustment if it is appropriate and this will be shown on your next bill.
