Help available for employers

Our Employment and Lifelong Learning team can:

  • Give advice on local recruitment to companies moving into the area.
  • Help new companies find the staff they need locally.
  • Organise recruitment events and campaigns, to ease the burden of recruitment.
  • Provide publicity for vacancies.
  • Work with partners such as Connexions and Jobcentre Plus, to ensure the best all-round service.
  • Advise you of grants and other initiatives for recruitment and development.

We can also help when things are not so good. The borough council is part of a Regional Support Network which helps businesses considering redundancies. The Cheshire and Warrington Redundancy Action Support Team can provide free advice and support to you and your employees at this difficult time.

The Employment and Lifelong Learning Team is able to help all local employers with their recruitment needs, from a one-man band needing another pair of hands, to a large new investor looking to recruit hundreds of new employees.

Help available for jobseekers

Our Employment and Lifelong Learning Team provide a wide range of activities defined to help people move into work nd to get on in work. The team can:

  • Give you advice on local recruitment events and vacancies.
  • Help you prepare for an interview or complete an application form.
  • Help smarten up your CV.
  • Arrange training for you if you have been given a job offer but need a particular qualification or certificate first.
  • Provide smart clothing for you to wear at an interview through the Career Gear scheme.
  • Help with transport to work in some areas.

Success Programme

Raise your confidence - Realise your ambitions - Achieve your goals - Discover Success!

Back by popular demand - the next Success Programme is starting on Monday June 11th until Friday June 22nd. 10am until 1pm each day (30 hours).

By attending this course you will develop your self image, make positive decisions about your future, feel confident in job interviews, receive an up-to-date CV and get loads of hits and tips - not just for returning to work - but also for living a more confident and fulfilled life!This could be the course that changes everything! Neston Return to Work Course

A free 10-week course designed to help people return to the workplace started in Neston recently.

The course, which is also supported by West Cheshire College and Cheshire County Council, is aimed at people who want to return to work after a break, or who are currently working part time but would like a change in direction.

The course offers the chance to improve computer skills, English and Maths and work towards national qualifications in these areas. A one-day First Aid course is also included, as is the chance to review and plan personal development through group work: issues covered include time management, assertiveness training, motivation, CV's, application forms and interview techniques.

EDZ Local Employment Charter

The EDZ Local Employment Charter recognises and rewards the work of employers moving into the Economic Development Zone who place a focus on recruiting and developing local people.Businesses achieve Charter status by meeting criteria around this local recruitment focus, and are rewarded through a number of benefits, including :
