Verification Framework

Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council complies with the Government initiative called the Verification Framework Initiative.

This ensures that our customers receive the benefits they are entitled to. It reduces errors entering the system, by getting assessments right at the beginning of the claim and therefore reduces overpayments of benefits.

The scheme asks for detailed information before we can pay Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.

You need to provide two items to prove your identity, such as passport, birth certificate, driving licence, utility bill.
We will ask for original documents (not photocopies) when you make your claim, and every time you have a change in your circumstances
You will be asked to provide your National Insurance number and that of your partner
If you are a private tenant you must provide the original tenancy agreement (not a photocopy), or proof of rent and the full name and address of your landlord. If your landlord has a managing agent we will require full name and address for the agent as well as the landlord
You are likely to be visited at home to check the information provided, either when you make your claim or when we are reviewing the details provided
