At present local authorities in Cheshire are split into a two tier system - borough councils and Cheshire County Council.
The system will change in 2009 with the abolition of the county council and the six borough councils in Cheshire. These will be replaced by two unitary councils, one covering West Cheshire, the other covering the east of the currrent county.
But until April 2009 you are represented in two levels in local government, or three if you live in the Ince area, which has a parish council.
