You are only entitled to vote if your name appears on the Register of Electors.
Each year between August and October the council sends a registration form to every household in the borough. Failure to fill it in is a criminal offence.
The register is essentially a list of everyone eligible to vote according to where they were living on October 15 each year. Once registered you can vote in all elections.
If you have just moved house or moved into the borough, you can register at any time of the year by filling in an electoral registration form. There's a copy of it on the link below:
