Information regarding a Personal Licence

A Personal Licence holder can also authorise up to 50 temporary event notices in each calendar year subject to certain restrictions.

When the Personal Licence holder is on the premises and makes or authorises the supply of alcohol the Personal Licence holder must produce the licence to a constable or authorised officer when asked to do so.

If the holder is convicted of a relevant offence the holder has a duty to produce the Licence. If that is not practicable the holder has a duty to notify the Court of the existence of the Personal Licence, the identity of the Licensing Authority and the reasons why the holder cannot produce the Licence.

If the Personal Licence is lost or stolen an application can be made to this Licensing Authority for a copy of the Licence. The holder must report the loss or theft to the Police. If the Licensing Authority is satisfied, a copy of the License can be issued on payment of the appropriate fee.

The Personal License holder must notify the Licensing Authority as soon as practicable of any change of name and address. The licence must accompany the notification.

A personal licence may be forfeited or suspended if the holder is convicted of a relevant offence.

A personal licence will cease to have effect if it is surrendered by the holder, revoked by the licensing authority, forfeited or suspended by the court.

The personal licence is valid for 10 years. The licence may be surrendered by the holder giving notice to the licensing authority that granted the original licence. The notice must be accompanied by the personal licence. The personal licence will lapse on receipt of the notice.
