Certain temporary events are not required to be licensed but must be notified to the licensing authority using the temporary event notice procedure.
Temporary events are events that take place in a premises, open space or a temporary structure and:
consist of one or more licensable activities;
take place for no longer than 96 hours in total;
no more than 499 people will attend;
are not covered by an existing licence or certificate granted under the Licensing Act 2003.
Examples of temporary events are village fetes, music festivals or amateur dramatic productions.
At least 10 working days notice of a temporary event must be given to the licensing authority and the police but you are encouraged to give the licensing authority at least 28 days notice so we can help you to plan your event safely.
