The Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) in Ellesmere Port was designated because levels of nitrogen dioxide from road traffic are above national standards. In order to find ways of improving air quality the borough council, together with Cheshire County Council, has drawn up an action plan.
A consultation leaflet was distributed to about 3500 homes and businesses in and around the AQMA. In addition, members of the Air Quality Forum, the Local Strategic Partnership and public bodies have been consulted.
