Air Quality - Air Quality Bulletin 02

Air Quality Bulletin 02

What is the Air Quality Forum?

Residents of the borough may have heard of the Ellesmere Port Air Quality Forum formed in February 2000.

So what is it?

A MORI poll carried out in 1999 highlighted air quality as a key concern for local people.

The Air Quality Forum has been formed in response to this concern.

The idea is for members of the forum to look at air quality issues and ways of working together to improve air quality. It aims to help to deliver the best local air quality strategy in the UK.

Members of the Air Quality Forum include -

Community groups and local residents
Local industry.
Local environmental groups.
Health groups, e.g. Primary Care Group.
The Environment Agency
Council officers
Local councillors

The forum is not an exclusive club. Anyone willing to help is welcome to take part.

So far the Forum members have been working on:

Odours within the borough.
Traffic pollution within the borough.
Communication of air pollution information to the community.
Air quality monitoring in the borough.
Regional Strategy within the North West.
Life styles and air pollution.

The forum is co-ordinated by the Environmental Health Service.

Air Quality Bulletins are designed as a series of regular information leaflets aimed at answering your questions on local air quality in simple understandable language. If you have an air quality question then please ask us and we will answer in a new Bulletin.
