Air Quality - How to Make a Complaint

If you wish to make a complaint or an enquiry about any air quality issue in the borough, please use the form below:

Environmental Protection - Air Quality Form

All air quality complaints will be logged and an officer will try to visit the site (if the problem is still present) on the same day as the complaint is made. Where we already know about the problem this may not be necessary. In some cases where the complaint is due to a complex industrial process it will be referred to the Environment Agency.

During the site visit the officer will try to identify the source of the problem and investigate how it can be stopped. The council can take legal sanctions to stop possible nuisances but this relies on evidence, so you may be asked to provide evidence or make diary notes to help the investigation.

The council aims to advise you on the progress of any individual case and discuss the best way forward with you at all times. In some cases where many complaints are received at the same time about an event you will be advised of progress by telephone or letter after the investigation.

AirWatch Helpline: 0151 356 6633, this operates 9am-4.30pm Monday to Friday. At all other times and when the line is busy please leave a message, including your phone number, and an officer will contact you as soon as possible.
