Bereavement Services - Book of Remembrance

picture of the Book of Remembrance
The Council provides a Book of Remembrance, which is permanently on display within the Cemetery Chapels. This Service provides the bereaved with an inexpensive and lasting form of memorial to those departed.

The Books have been constructed using archival quality materials to provide a binding that will last for many centuries. One page is allocated to each day of the year, and the Book is on display open at the corresponding day, in a protective glass cabinet, so that the memorial entries may be seen on each anniversary.

Miniature Book and Memorial Cards

A Miniature Book of Remembrance provides a personal copy of an entry made in the Book of Remembrance, which is on permanent display in the Cemetery Chapels. It can be used as a family record with the provision for further entries in the future. The advantage of the miniature books is that it allows for the bereaved family to send it to distant relatives and friends. Memorial cards are also available for individual entries; the inscription inside the card is exactly as it appears in the Book of Remembrance.

An application form for entry into the Book of Remembrance, Miniature Book and Memorial Cards is available to download at the bottom of the page. Please read the following instructions before completing the form. The application will be vetted and approved accordingly. Such an application will incur a fee, which will depend on your requirements, details of charges are given below. Please complete the form clearly and return to the Bereavement Services Manager.
