The Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963 (OSRPA) aims to secure the health, safety and welfare of people employed to work in offices, shops and certain railway premises. (Sections 1-3 of the Act define the premises to which the Act applies.)
If an employer intends to employ anyone to work in an office or shop, they are required by section 49 of the Act to notify the council beforehand. They must provide specific details as laid down in the Notification of Employment of Persons Order 1964 (SI 1964/533).
This is done by completing form OSR1. You can either fill in the online form then press the continue button at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions or print off two blank copies and complete them by hand. Please print 2 copies of the completed form, sign them and post them to the:-
