Vauxhall's factory at Ellesmere Port is to be one of four plants in Europe that will build the new Astra.

On June 1 2005 new legislation came into effect that requires everyone with a high hedge to consider the effect such hedges have on their neighbours.
A high hedge is defined in the Act as a barrier to light or access as is formed wholly or predominately by a line of two or more evergreen or semi-evergreen trees or shrubs and rises to a height of more than two metres above ground level.
However the Act will only offer control over hedges that affect domestic properties, which are defined as a dwelling or any associated garden or yard.
Complaining to the council is seen as a last resort and should only be undertaken when all other avenues have been exhausted. If someone is troubled by a hedge, the best way to deal with the issues is to discuss it amicably and agree a solution. For this reason, the law requires people to have taken reasonable steps to try to settle their hedge dispute for themselves before complaining to the local council.
