Homelessness Strategy
This is Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council's second Homelessness Strategy following the implementation of the Homelessness Act 2002. This strategy will continue to build upon the significant achievements made in delivering the first strategy, seeking to enhance existing services and develop new initiatives.
This strategy has been developed in response to the findings of the Homelessness Review 2006, which provided a very detailed and comprehensive analysis of homelessness in Ellesmere Port and Neston.
The review highlighted a number of issues to be addressed within the strategy. The priorities that have been identified are based on the findings of the Homelessness Review and government priorities. They have been developed in conjunction with the Ellesmere Port and Neston Homelessness Partnership.
The five priorities are:
1. Developing the housing options service
2. Tackling youth homelessness
3. Partnership working and engagement
4. Reducing the use of temporary accommodation
5. Supported accommodation and move on
The strategy will cover the period 2008 - 2011 and will be monitored and reviewed by the Ellesmere Port and Neston Homelessness Partnership as well as through the local authority's internal performance management systems.
