Vauxhall's factory at Ellesmere Port is to be one of four plants in Europe that will build the new Astra.
| Rewiring | We are in the process of rewiring 179 properties borough wide. This work is due to continue until early 2009. |
Kitchen and Bathroom Renewal | A further 17 properties in the Westminster area are having either the bathroom, kitchen or both renewed. The tenants have been able to choose from a range of worktops, tiles floor covering and bathroom suites. |
| External Painting Programme including Window and Door Replacements as necessary | Our rolling programme is continuing apace. Work is now complete to 93 properties in Ellesmere Port and work is underway to a further 131 in North Whitby. |
Sutton Way Improvements | Work is now complete on the major environmental works to the flats at Sutton Way, Old Chester Road and Heswall Road. The door entry systems to the blocks have also been upgraded. |
| Central Heating | We are continuing to upgrade and renew central heating systems as needed in many parts of the borough. |
Roof Replacement | Work continues to replace the old flat roofs with pitched roofs to the MOS properties on the Station Road estate in Little Sutton. We are joining with the owner occupiers in the area to have pitched roofs installed. |
| Digital TV Switchover | Work is nearing completion in readiness for the digital TV switchover for residents in flats in Princes Road, Ellesmere Port, and Tannery Lane and Churchill Court, Neston. A new digital system is currently being fitted and a socket will be fitted in each property. |
Lifelines  | We are having new Lifeline dispersed alarms installed in all our sheltered properties to replace the old hard-wired system. This allows our more vulnerable tenants to make contact with a dedicated control centre to summon help should they need it. |
| Miscellaneous | We will continue to provide dropped kerb and carriage crossovers in a number of locations. We will also provide verge hardening where necessary. In addition to this we are planning a range of schemes to help alleviate problems with antisocial behaviour - for example, improvements with fencing and lighting. |
