Updated Tenancy Agreement Adopted

Tenancy Agreement changesIn a two-stage consultation all tenants were given the opportunity to give their views and make comments on the new proposed tenancy agreement.

The majority of tenants who gave us feedback were in support of the new tenancy agreement and so, following the service of a Notice of Variation to tenants, the new tenancy agreement was adopted on 2 June 2008.

The agreement provides lots of information including what the council will repair and what tenants must look after themselves, what happens if you don't pay your rent, and details of specific rights such as succession and compensation for improvements.

There is also information about anti-social behaviour and harassment. This is an issue which a lot of people are concerned about. We are determined to make every effort to ensure that nuisance and anti-social behaviour is dealt with effectively and quickly. The new tenancy agreement makes it very clear what is meant by nuisance and anti-social behaviour and what can happen if a tenant causes problems for other residents.

We hope that the new agreement will help all our tenants know what they can expect from us and what responsibilities they must undertake.
