Vauxhall's factory at Ellesmere Port is to be one of four plants in Europe that will build the new Astra.

We acknowledge that play is an essential part of every child's life and believe that local children should be able to enjoy the 'Freedom to Play' in safety.
We have taken the lead in developing a play strategy to help support the borough in its wish to reinforce the identity of play. It is written with a view to creating a greater number of stimulating environments for play in local neighbourhoods that are inclusive, safe and accessible to children and young people both within and outside school grounds.
The strategy lays emphasis on the development of play opportunities for children aged five to 16 years whilst acknowledging the benefits of play for all children. The focus is on the positive outcomes of play and we draw attention to the contribution that public, private and voluntary agencies can make to the play agenda.
By play we mean an activity carried out entirely for its own sake and have adopted The Children's Play Council definition of play, which states:
'Play is a generic term applied to a wide range of activities and behaviours that are satisfying to the child, creative for the child and freely chosen by the child. Children's play may or may not involve equipment or have an end product. Children play on their own and with others. Their play may be boisterous and energetic or quiet and contemplative, light hearted or very serious.'
We believe the prospect for play development is good but future play provision will depend on a transforming infrastructure for play sustained by the coordinated effort of agencies and families and the meaningful participation of children.
We will be seeking funding from many sources and cooperation from many agencies. But, perhaps more importantly, we will be asking every citizen to take the time to consider the desires of children and every child to respect the needs of others.
