As part of the consultation process, we held community roadshows in central Ellesmere Port at Ellesmere Port Library, Ellesmere Port Market, Mecca Bingo and Trinity Methodist Church.AAP Exhibition at Ellesmere Port Market

The council also ran a focus group on 17 June to enable residents who live in the Central Ellesmere Port area to discuss and provide more detailed feedback on the report.

A Preferred Options document is currently being prepared, based on the responses received to the Issues and Options consultation. Sustainability appraisal of the options will also be undertaken and a Sustainability Appraisal report will be published once it has been completed. It is anticipated that consultation on the Preferred Options will begin in January 2009.

When complete the AAP will provide detailed planning guidance for the regeneration and future development of the Central Ellesmere Port area. This is an area of Ellesmere Port which will undergo significant change over the next few years and the AAP will guide its future shape.

The draft boundary of the Central Ellesmere Port area covers the town centre and extends to the Civic Hall in the west, McGarva Way and Cambridge Road to the south, the stadium and M53 to the east and Whitby Road to the north.

The purpose of the AAP is to create a vision and strategy for the comprehensive and integrated regeneration of the Central Ellesmere Port area. The AAP will set out the spatial framework for the development of a number of key sites such as the former H H Robertsons site on Cromwell Road.

The Issues and Options paper sets out the key issues facing the central parts of the town and puts forward a number of options to deal with them. One of the purposes of the Issues and Options paper is to help to pull together the planning issues in the area and to highlight how they might be taken forward.

The LDF Panel discussed the progress on the AAP at its meeting of 28 August 2008. The report can be read on the Local Development Framework Panel agenda and reports page via the following link:
