Central Ellesmere Port Area Action Plan

The central Ellesmere Port area is undergoing major changes, and there are many opportunities for improvement, for example through redevelopment of vacant, derelict and under-used sites. The Area Action Plan (AAP) will provide the framework for redevelopment and regeneration and will ensure that development is dealt with in a comprehensive way.

Public consultation on the AAP Issues and Options paper was undertaken from 19 May to 30 June 2008. Copies of the document were sent to key groups and stakeholders, and it was available online. We also held exhibitions in the AAP area at Ellesmere Port Library, Ellesmere Port Market, Mecca Bingo and Trinity Methodist Church.

A focus group was held on 17 June 2008, to enable local residents to discuss issues raised in the AAP in more detail. For more information on the Central Ellesmere Port Area Action Plan, please click the link below:

Development brief to be prepared for Ellesmere Port Waterfront

A development brief is to be prepared to guide the redevelopment of Ellesmere Port docks into a 7000 unit housing scheme. An application is expected in the summer from Peel Holdings and the brief will guide the application. It will set out the key development principles for the site and will be the subject of detailed public consultation. Further details will be placed on this website. On 6 May 2008, Planning Committee agreed the scope and timetable for the preparation of the brief. It is anticipated that the brief will be finally approved in September 2008.

The brief will not be part of the LDF but will be an informal brief.
